The Czech-Moravian highlands form a forested border between the Czech lands and Moravia. In the north the highlans culminate in Žďárské vrchy with its peaks reaching over 800 meters above the sea level. Those are covered by numerous rocky formations often sought by the climbing fans. This climbing region was only discovered in the fifties of the 20th century.
The nearest climbing terrains around the Škrdlovice village are Tisůvka (3 km), Devět skal (Nine rocks - 11 km), Rozštěpená skála (Chopped rock - 13km), and the rocky complex in the Doubravka valley (20 km). These locations represent a scant fragment of various climbing opportunities in the Žďárské vrchy region.
Important note:
The climbing sports in the nature reserve of Žďárské vrchy can only be performed by people organized in the climbing association ČSTV or other climbing associations, or by these climbers` guests.
Some rocky formations are quite excluded from any kind of rising activities, and on others the climbing is restricted to specific months of the year. For detailed information you can contact the Žďárské vrchy Nature Reserve government at Hutarova 1, Žďár nad Sázavou.
