Lázně Kynžvart - this health resort for children is situated several kilometres from the renowned spa of Mariánské Lázně. It is placed in the heart of the national resort area called The Slavkov Forest (Slavkovský les), situated on the south-western slope of its woody countryside boast of its well preserved wild nature.

Thanks to the healing mineral springs here and the moorlands in the surrounding country, the spa itself was founded in 1822 by the Metternich family. Until 1950 it was used for treatment of adults.

The year 1950 was a decisive milestone in the history of the spa when the treatment of children started here (at that time an epidemic of whoopingcough burst out). Due to positive healing effect of the climate the spa was rebuilt and now serves as children's health resort working all the year through.
