The Teplice Spa is amongst the oldest yet the most modern spa complex in Europe. The Celts and the Ancient Romans worshiped the thermal springs for their curative qualities two thousand years ago. The balneology development enabled the originally unknown town of Teplice to transform into a metropolis taking pride in gorgeous Spa buildings. Thanks to the curative springs, famous rulers, diplomats, scientists and artists who called it the "Salon of Europe" often visited the town. An artistic elite that was successfully treated in the Spa has left its indelible mark here (L. van Beethoven, F. Chopin, R. Wagner, F. Lizst, J. W. Goethe, F. Palacký, J. Dobrovský, A. Schopenhauer).

The "magic" power of the curative thermal springs and their beneficial effects are augmented by rich experience and latest medical techniques. The Spa treatment makes use of thermal springs called Pravřídlo and Hynie. The temperature of this thermal water is 39 - 44°C. The springs are used primarily for locomotive and nervous system treatments in all of the Spa buildings. On the basis of medicine and balneology, the Spa has good results in treating post-traumatic conditions and in treating children with mobility disorders due to the erosion of the central nervous system. The treatment has also proved to be successful with occupational diseases caused by vibrations.
