The pre-Romanesque Rotunda of St. Peter and Paul in Budeč is the oldest extant stone building of architecture in Czech republic. It dates back to the turn of the 9th and 10th century, to the times of Prince Spytihněv. It was a part of an important hillfort of Přemysl princes. In the late 9th century, when the seat of Přemysl princes moved to Prague, Budeč started to lose its importance. For some time, it was an appanage castle of Czech Princesses and ceased to exist in the 13th century.
