Hůrka was an Early-Romanesque Premyslid castle. It dates from year 976. The castle was built in the place of a Slavic walled settlement. When Plzeň (Pilsen) was founded in 1295, Hůrka started to lose its importance. Nowadays, only the Pre-Romanesque St. Peter's rotunda is preserved. On the Hůrka hill, there can be seen the remnants of the fortifications, and foundations of the two churches. These were the church of St. Lawrence and the St. Cross. Hůrka lies 9 km far from Plzeň and is easily accessible as it is situated on an educational trail, which starts in Starý Plzenec.
