Ruins of castle Zvířetice near Bakov nad Jizerou (Mladoboleslavsko)

A large and mostly preserved ruin of a stronghold founded probably at the beginning of the 14th century. In the 15th century it was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle and in the 17th century, under House Wallenstein, it was adapted in Baroque style. It burned down twice, and after the second fire (in 1720) was not reconstructed again. Now there are remains of a palace and a tall tower, in the last century adapted to an observation tower.
