Prachatice, one of the most beautiful towns in Southern Bohemia, has developed from a former settlement, which emerged at the beginning of the past millennium near the Golden Path by which salt was imported to Bohemia. With its development stagnating from the 16th century onwards, the town has preserved a practically intact Gothic/Renaissance core to this day.
