A permanent exposition divided into two parts attracted visitors thanks to its selected choice of works of the prominent artists from the 13th century to the present. The exhibition hall Masné krámy, originally a Gothic meat market, was opened in 1975. Concerts, Sunday matinee, lectures, discussions and other cultural activities have become a self-evident part of the exhibitions. In order to finally solve the space issue of the West Bohemian Gallery, the reconstruction of a beautiful Gothic-Renaissance building standing very close to Masné krámy began in 1988 and was completed in 1997.
Exhibition halls and other premises bring visitors new cultural experiences. Collections covering the entire development of national art culture from the Gothic period to the present have been continuously and carefully developed and expanded since the inception of the West Bohemian Gallery.
