The rotund tower is the only part of the castle Šelmberk, which survived the devastating Thirty Years' War and became a lookout in modern times. The idea came from Count Leopold Kuenburg, who had it repaired in 1920s and its top secured with a wall with battlements. The tower is 26 meters high and looks down to the surrounding low hills of region of Tábor, Křemešník and Vlašim Upland with the fabulous mountain Velký Blaník.
