Jewish houses in Vodňany were probably built from the 18th century but they did not create a ghetto because most of the inhabitants of the street were Christians. The synagogue was built in 1837 ? 52 next to the old synagogue from 1744, which was later demolished. The simple Classicist building is today used as a city museum.
