The town museum and gallery were founded in 1893 in the south wing of the New Castle. On the first and second floor, there are graphical works of Max Švabinský and Czech art of 19th and 20th century. You can see there paintings by M. Aleš, V. Hynais, J. Jambor, C. Bouda, J. Bouda, V. Komárek and others. In the museum section you can see a historical exhibition of the ethnography of the Dačice area. The highly developed domestic woodcarving skills of the 18th century are documented by the sculpture Madonna in Heaven by Matouš Strachovský. In the exhibition you can find coins and medals, town vistas, china, colored furniture, Highland folk costumes, wedding flags and the history of the first sugar cube.
