The town of Slavonice is a treasure of European architecture located on the border between Bohemia, Moravia and Austria. As a whole, it is a stunning example of a well-preserved high Gothic town featuring houses remodelled in the Renaissance style. Slavonice owes its unique character to numerous burghers' houses with splendid Renaissance gables, figural and letter-shaped sgraffiti and lounges (mázhouses). Standing in the town centre, the Gothic Church of the Assumption has a tower, which provides a magnificent view of the surrounding area.
