The dam on the river Bílá Desná was filled with water in June 1915. In 1916 the shed dam broke through and caused a big disaster in the town of Desná. Sixty-two people were killed and many houses and factories were damaged, or destroyed. This event is memorized by a big piece of rock with a memory table from the year 1937 that is placed in central Desná. The "Broken" Dam includes the rest of the old dam and a dam tower. There is also a tunnel between the Dam Souš and the "Broken" Dam that is famous as the seat of many species of bats.
