Fortresses near Kestřany (Písecko)
|
Near the village Kestřany there is a unique pair of well-preserved fortresses dating from the Middle Ages. Three fortresses were originally founded within a single village. The upper fortress was built in the second half of the 13th century. The lower fortress dates back to the 15th century. At the end of the Middle Ages it was converted into a brewery. The third fortress was probably remodeled as a Baroque castle in the17th century but it is in very poor condition at present.
