The square is one of the most important historical sights of Mělník. There are many originally Gothic houses that were later rebuilt in the Baroque style. In the middle of the square there is the fountain with group of statues called "Wintage" created by Vincent Makovský. On the north-eastern side of the square there is the Renaissance town hall and Baroque Kapucín monastery.
