Original manor house was built on the bank of the river Ohře by Volf Fictum. After the Battle of Bílá hora in 1620, the Thuns became the owners of Klášterec na Ohří and they rebuilt it into a Baroque chateau. The renovation was made by the Italian master-builder Rossi da Lucca. After fire in 1784 the chateau was rebuilt in Classicist style and later it got its Neo Gothic look.

There is an English park with rare trees, sala terrena and sculptures by Jana Brokoff. On the grounds is also the Thum crypt with the family tree of the Thun-Hohensteina crafted in porcelain relief. There is also presented the history of Czech porcelain with representative examples of old Chinese, Japanese, a Central European porcelain.
