The Late Renaissance castle with its remarkable tower facade, surprises the visitor on the courtyard side with the arcades with a relief stone decoration that can be regarded as one of the peaks of Mannerist sculpture in the Czech Republic. The castle stands on the site of the original castle, which archaeological research uncovered in the 19th century, and which stood to the south of the present-day building.
From the stage when the Renaissance was introduced to the Czech Lands, the interesting tomb of Ladislav of Boskovice and his wife Magdalena of Dubá, with the date 1495, has been preserved. At the beginning of the 17th century, the chateau was expanded with the part closest to the town; once again, the quality of the architectural sculpture was superb. It has been linked with the names of the stonemasons Jan of Ferraia, Jan Mottala da Bonamone, Adam Mottala and others.
