The castle Lanškroun is situated in the small town of the same name. It was founded as a monastery in 14th century by Petr Jelito. During the Hussite wars it was completely destroyed. In the 16th century it was reconstructed by its? owner Adam Hrzán from Harasov. From a monastery became a nice castle in the Renaissance style. In 18th century ground floor buildings behind the castle were built.
Inside the building there is a museum, which was founded in 1905 by the historian Norbert Riess. The exhibition presents the history of the town of Lanškroun from the establishment in 13th century. The final reconstruction of the building started in 1940 and finished in 1971. In 1988 there were placed statues of St. Jan Nepomucký and Jan Sarkander at the entrance.
