Mountain and Lookout Tower Smrk (Frýdlantský výběžek)

The highest mountain of Jizera Mountains is Smrk ? it is 1124m high. On its slopes the river Jizera springs. On the top of Smrk there used to be chalet with a lookout tower, but it was broken in 1945. The new lookout tower was built on the same place in the year 2003. It is metal and 20 m high. If the weather is good, you can see to distance about 150 km. A spiral staircase ascends to two viewing platforms with a nice view over the surrounding area, mainly Jizera mountains and neighboring Poland
